A pedalboard version of the preamp section from a vintage Revox reel-to-reel tape recorder, with an XLR direct out and a lofi optical compressor

This classic edition Reel Deal recreates the phenomenal transistor preamp from a Revox reel-to-reel tape recorder, with a few changes to make it more pedal-board friendly.

To the original circuit, I have added:

-Low-noise, high input-impedance buffered bypass

-Variable Gain control

-Ultra-low-impedance XLR output with ground lift switch

-Overload light

-Tone switch called "Tape speed" with 3 positions:

          - Full frequency

          - Slight Bass cut for clarity

          - Large Bass cut for Treble Boost

This circuit is really something special and adds a lot of color and fullness. It sounds great with guitar, bass and vocals, lending a warm old-school texture to anything that passes through it.

The Reel Deal has tons of volume on tap, and can drive tube amps into beautiful feedback, just don't expect it to sound like anything else you're used to.

V2 of the Reel Deal has a new LIMIT switch.

It is a three-position switch that allows you to add

lo-fi compression using the OVERLOAD light.

O = No compression

I=HF compression

II= Full compression

The "overload" light responds to the signal, and gets brighter the more distortion that is introduced.

Uses standard 9V DC center negative power supply
