Optical Tremolo

A classic with a modern spin!

I took my favorite analog optical tremolo circuit and added some extra features for maximum versatility.

Equipped with the standard Speed and Depth controls, the Wave Function takes things even further with precise wave shaping functions:

• Speed: Control the speed of the pulsations
• Depth: Control how deeply the volume is attenuated (how subtle the effect is)
• Shape: choose either Square or Triangle wave
• Ramp: Have the signal fade on and off smoothly, or either go quickly on and fade off, or quickly off and fade on
•  Symmetry: Sets the ratio of ON to OFF of the wave. Clockwise, signal is ON for longer than it is OFF, in center position it is equally ON/OFF, and in the counter-clockwise position, it is OFF longer than on. This gives unique pulsing character to the trem. 

As well as these versatile wave shaping functions, I have also added some new ideas:

• Half Switch (Latching): Using the half footswitch, you can cut the speed in half, or double it, while keeping the same tempo
• Half Switch (Momentary) By holding the footswitch, you can slowly fade the tremolo to a stop
• Follow: When a solid note is struck the tremolo pauses to let the note ring out and comes back as the note fades away, to effectively only have tremolo on the tail of your notes.

The circuit is all analog and uses LED lights to control the signal. With a warm tone and luscious tremolo, the Wave Function is sure to please fans of vintage tube trem, as well as modern experimentalists.

Runs on standard center negative 9V pedal power, top mount jacks.

Buffered bypass, soft touch switching.
